Got questions about skip bin hire? We’ve answered the most common questions below to help make the process simple and stress-free.
The regular hire period is 1 week (example: Tuesday delivery to Monday collection), but if you finish with the skip bin earlier, we’ll be more than happy to come and collect it for you. If you need the bin for longer, just let us know at least 24 hours before the original pick up date, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Our deliveries are typically completed during normal business hours and are usually scheduled in the morning. During busy periods, deliveries may occur later in the day.
If you need to be present when the bin arrives, simply let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to provide an estimated delivery window. In many cases, our driver can also give you a courtesy text before arrival.
If you’ve filled the bin and need it collected sooner than the original pick up date, just give us a call and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
The easiest way to estimate the right skip bin size is to compare your waste to the wheelie bin and trailer load equivalents shown below.
As a general guide:
- 3m³ Bin = Approx. 12 wheelie bins or 3 trailer loads
- 4m³ Bin = Approx. 16 wheelie bins or 4 trailer loads
- 6m³ Bin = Approx. 24 wheelie bins or 6 trailer loads
- 8m³ Bin = Approx. 32 wheelie bins or 8 trailer loads
- 10m³ Bin = Approx. 40 wheelie bins or 10 trailer loads

No. As long as clear placement instructions have been provided and the area is accessible, you do not need to be present for delivery. If you have specific placement requirements, please let us know when booking.
We take great care when delivering and collecting every skip bin, and our experienced drivers do everything possible to protect your property.
However, skip bins are heavy, and our trucks use stabilising legs during loading and unloading to operate safely. Because of the weight of both the truck and the skip bin, marks, indentations or damage can occasionally occur to driveways, paving, kerbing, lawns or other surfaces. Soft ground, decorative paving, new concrete, exposed aggregate and asphalt are particularly susceptible.
While every reasonable care is taken, Stride Skip Bins cannot accept responsibility for any damage to property that may occur as a result of delivering, placing, collecting or transporting a skip bin, including damage caused by the weight of the truck, skip bin or its stabilising legs.
If you have a surface you’re concerned about, or a preferred placement location, please let us know before delivery. Where practical, we can discuss the best placement options and recommend using timber under the bin (provided by customer) or selecting an alternative location to help minimise the risk of damage.
It can be tricky to estimate the size of bin you need, so the best way to do it is to imagine your rubbish in a pile and then calculate the volume. Multiply the length, width and height of the pile to get an estimate of the bin volume for your rubbish. For example, if your pile is 1.6m x 1.8m x 1.3m, that’s approx. 3.75 cubic metres – so you’ll need a 4 cubic metre bin.
We offer six waste types, so you can choose the bin that suits your job:
- Green Waste for garden waste, branches, leaves and vegetation.
- Recyclable Waste for steel, paper, cardboard, plastics and other recyclables.
- Concrete & Brick for concrete, bricks, pavers, tiles and other inert materials.
- Mixed Waste for general, green, timber and heavy materials.
- General Waste for household waste, timber, furniture and mixed items.
- Clean Fill for clean sand, soil and dirt (no green waste).

Skip bins can only be filled level with the top of the bin.
For safety reasons, waste must not extend above the rim of the skip bin. Overloaded bins cannot be safely transported and may require excess material to be removed before collection can take place.

Yes, mattresses are accepted in our skip bins. However, additional disposal charges apply and mattresses must be declared at the time of booking.
To maximise space and allow for safe transport, mattresses should be placed flat on top of the load and added last. Mattresses buried within the bin may result in additional handling charges.
If you’re disposing of more than one mattress, please let our team know when booking so we can provide accurate pricing.
All of our skip bins are fitted with convenient drop-down ramps, making it easier to load heavy, bulky or awkward items such as furniture, renovation waste and garden materials.
Drop-down ramps allow you to walk waste into the bin rather than lifting it over the side, helping to make loading safer and more convenient.

We accept payment by credit or debit card over the phone, secure payment link, or cash by prior arrangement.
Payment is required prior to delivery to secure your booking and delivery date.
Skip bins must be filled level with the top of the bin and not overloaded.
If a bin cannot be safely transported due to overloading, excess material will need to be removed before collection can occur.
In some cases, our driver may be able to remove a small amount of excess material and place it beside the bin, however this cannot be guaranteed. Additional charges may apply if a return visit is required.

- Asbestos
- Hardifencing or similar materials
- Gas bottles or pressurised items
- Paint or other toxic substances
- Hazardous waste (e.g. oils, chemicals and poisons)
- Tree stumps or trunks (less than 10cm in diameter are acceptable)
- Food waste
- Liquid waste
- Medical waste
- Batteries
- Car tyres
- Wet concrete
- E-waste (e.g. computers and TVs)
- Carpet (strict conditions apply – please contact us)

Our standard hire period is one calendar week, giving you plenty of time to complete your project without feeling rushed.
For example, a bin delivered on a Tuesday would typically be collected the following Monday.
Finished early? Simply give us a call and we’ll arrange a collection as soon as possible.
Need a little longer? Let us know before your scheduled collection date. In many cases, we can offer a free Bonus Day when arranged in advance. If additional time is required beyond this, extended hire is available for a small additional charge
Yes. Wherever possible, waste collected in our skip bins is sorted and directed to appropriate recycling and recovery facilities rather than being sent directly to landfill.
By offering dedicated waste streams such as Green Waste, Recyclable Waste, Concrete & Brick, and Clean Fill, we help support responsible disposal practices and maximise recycling opportunities where available.

We will always aim to place your skip bin in the safest and most convenient location possible, typically on a driveway or suitable area within your property.
If this isn’t possible, we may be able to place the bin on the verge, subject to local council requirements and safe access considerations.
